Choice – the first smoke free
 hotel chain in Scandinavia

From the 1st of January 2007 Choice Hotels
 Scandinavia became the first smoke free hotel
chain in the world. This means that also Clarion Collection Hotel Valdemars now is smoke free hotel. Choice carried out a study showing that more than 80% of our guests prefer living in a smoke free hotel. Choice takes our guests’ wishes seriously. We are 
therefore offering all our guests a smoke free hotel and all our employees a smoke free working environment.

world species, but covers only 6% of the surface
 of the earth. Millions of people live in the 
rainforest and almost all of what they need to live 
 on comes from it. Even we who live so far away 
 from it, need the important medicines obtained

Choice Hotels Scandinavia wish to accept their 
responsibility for the global climate. Rainforest
 deforestation causes 20% of all CO2-emissions
 created by humans and it is important to highlight
 this. The preservation of the rainforest is the
 quickest and most cost effective climate initiative
 ever. Choice has decided to charge a ”green tax”
 to itself and wish to support the Rainforest
 Foundations in its global work.

By staying for one night in a 
Choice-hotel, you conserve 100 m2
 of rainforest for one year.

The support from Choice will help the largest remaining
 rainforest in Asia on the island of New Guinea and also 
protect especially vulnerable areas for the Amazon Indians.

Our breakfast offer shall at all times be fulfilling. Our guests should be fully satisfied by eating a breakfast consisting of nothing but organic produce.

Environment Certification

Operation Penguin is the name of the project leading to the 
ISO 14001 accreditation of all Choice hotels before the end 
of 2009. ”Penguin” is Choice eco-management system, 
which is to be implemented throughout all their hotels in the 
Nordic countries. The eco-management system is established 
according to the internationally recognised ISO 14001 
standard and will be accredited through the ’Det Norske Veritas’ (DNV).
